Well, it’s not a secret that we’re way past our release date. The thing is, we have run into the problems during iTunes submission process. I guess this quote from Apple’s email will nicely summarize what is up:
Thank you for submitting Rever to the App Store. We’ve reviewed Rever and determined that we cannot post your application because it appears to contain features, namely, gameplay, that bear a resemblance to a well-known third-party mark.
It’s not very hard to guess that the mentioned well-known third-party game is Tetris. And we agree… our game from a first glance looks a lot like it, and shares some gameplay mechanics. But the core gameplay of the game is very different, and anyone who played it will tell you so. And even then, gameplay ideas are not copyrightable, and we do not infringe any copyrights, patents or trademarks.
Anyway, there’s not much we can do at the moment. We’re still trying to resolve this issue with Apple, and maybe we’ll find a way to get Rever into iTunes store. But most likely not. We’re not mad or anything, as we were quite aware of where we were getting into. We felt that the gameplay was so cool, that we just had to do it, even knowing the possible consequences. What’s done is done, and we’re moving on with another nice project, with some hope left, that Rever might still have a chance. And even if Apple won’t approve, we’ll most likely release it in one form or another. Maybe on Cydia, or even free as a PC port.
We’ll let you know how it goes.
